CATALINA FREIGHT LINE
NOTICE OF PROPOSED SAME DAY FREIGHT
DELIVERY SERVICE TO CATALINA ISLAND AND NEW SERVICE TO ISLAND CAMPS AND
OF REVISION OF MINIMUM SERVICE CHARGE
We have filed an Application with the California
Public Utilities Commission to add regularly scheduled same day freight
delivery service to Avalon Harbor from Wilmington, using a new faster
vessel, at premium rates averaging 83% over regular rates for our
standard overnight deliveries. The new vessel will also permit us to
offer direct water transport to camps and beaches on Santa Catalina
Island on an “on call” basis at a rate of $295.00 per hour plus fuel.
We have also requested authority to negotiate volume discounts and to
offer demonstration runs at reduced prices to attract customers to the
new services. Further, we have requested authority to increase the
minimum shipment rate for our regular freight delivery service from
$6.00 for shipments up to 67 pounds to $11.00 for shipments up to 100
pounds.
We believe that these new services will provide
customers with a wider range of choices for freight delivery to the
Island and that our proposed rates are reasonable and fair. If you have
questions about our proposed new routes and types of services and their
rates or about our proposed revisions to the minimum freight shipment
rate or would like to see a copy of our Application, please feel free to
contact us at:

Objections to our proposed new routes and types of
service or to the proposed size and rate for our minimum freight
shipment may be filed by mail with the CPUC. Please mail your
objections to
